Social Media Guidelines
A community of respect
In order to create a positive and engaging environment for users among our social media accounts, we ask all users to treat each other with respect at all times. Insults, threats or harassment of other users, organizations or employees will not be tolerated.
The National Gallery of Canada (NGC) reserves its right to delete—to the full extent that each respective social media platform allows—any post or comment that:
is defamatory, indecent, offensive, profane, discriminatory or misleading;
spams, posts promotional material or posts links to third-party websites;
encourages or suggests illegal activity; or
poses a breach of privacy for others by including personal information.
Everything is public
Nothing is private when posting or commenting on a public feed. Don’t post personal information that that may identify you or anyone else, such as your address, email address or phone number.
Your comments are your own
Any comments or opinions shared by followers on NGC accounts do not represent the views of Gallery, its management or employees.
When do we respond?
Our accounts are continually monitored; we strive to read and/or reply to messages, posts and comments during operating hours.
Updates to the guidelines
NGC reserves the right to amend these Guidelines at any time.
The NGC is not responsible or liable for damages (viruses, spam, privacy breaches, etc.) that may occur while you are interacting with a NGC account hosted on third-party platform. You must comply with the terms and conditions of the platform on which NGC accounts are hosted.
